On Monday, August 9th., (the six month anniversary of Captain Phil’s passing), it was noted that the new Captainphilharris.com had been “down” for several hours. An educated guess would suggest the current web guy, Robert aka “gonetowork” was turning the site back over to Russ Herriott and a server switch was in process.
To date there have been no further forum updates and “gonetowork” is MIA.
The previous web guy, Richard Dover (who was hired by Phil), took over the forum in the fall of 2009, reworked the site and optimized it with links. Coffee sales doubled from January to March! Clothing sales had risen sharply as well. The forum was making money for Phil’s estate. After Phil’s passing , however, Rich had problems getting paid in a timely manner.
Excerpt from a March 11 email from Rich Dover: “To be honest, I have been in the holding pattern with the site because once again I am not getting payments. My vendor is wanting their payments and have been patient since in the hosting business you get paid before the actual hosting takes place. And when they do
special work, they want payment ASAP because obviously the work they do takes effect immediately on the web“.
Although the Original Captainphilharris.com was doing well online, getting lots of hits with increasing sales, Russ Herriott contacted Rich Dover stating the decision had been made to go in a different direction. He had someone who would put up a new forum and optimize it with links so it would make a lot of money. In early June, 2010 the Original Captainphilharris.com was no more. The new Captainphilharris.com was born with Russ Herriott, Jake and Josh at the helm.
It is not quite understood why things had to be changed so drastically. We see the result. Dead forum, Store links disabled, and coffee still available to be ordered and never received. It would have made more sense to perhaps pare down and consolidate the original forum and keep the store, coffee, and CURRENT EMPLOYEES in place with regular payment for their services.

We have recently revised the entire site to make this a fun and friendly way to pay our respects to the late Captain Phil of the Deadliest Catch. His memory will live on in the minds of the fans and through the footage of the Discovery Channel's highest rated show. In the immortal words of Captain Phil, "You can make things happen, watch things happen or wonder what the F$$K happened....we're making things happen". You are so very correct. Russ, You made it happen. KUDOS!
And it was all so totally unnecessary. Very, very sad!

Several of these things have become hate mongers towards the Harris family and management. People, it is time to grow up, stop the harrassment and live your own lives. The Captains are fully aware of these principal bullies that have tried to destroy Josh Harris. Your never going to be hired back from the job your were fired. No one really wants to see your faces at any event. Your the laughing stock as you repeatedly attend every event, standing in line for hours to get yet another autograph. It has become embarrassing....just go away, your not wanted.
@Roy, well, there are just no words for you. I can't argue with someone who knows none of us, and that includes the captains and crews of not just DC, but the fleet.
