It has been a long time coming now that there is no coffee selling from Captain's Reserve. I have been slandered by the post Russ Herriott put on this site about suing me and my coffee company being a fake. The only fake here is Russ. He banked on the fans compassion for the boys and their loyalty to Phil to attempt to destroy my business because I left Captain's Reserve on May 29th for lack of being paid.
Bering Sea Brew Gourmet Coffee was inspired by Phil, whom I worked with for over two years to market and perfect. The only place you will be able to order this gourmet brand is at www.captainsgourmet.com.
We have hundreds of satisfied customers that knew the truth.
Have you seen any lawsuits??? I want the post relating to me removed from this site and the truth to get out there.

Having just returned from the Seattle area, I can say this: I went to no less than FOUR QFC Stores looking for Captain's Reserve Coffee. WHen I could not find it, I inquired of management as to when it would be back in stock. Their answer: IT WON'T BE. They basically said they want nothing to do with 'the man who took over Phil's business concerns' a.k.a., Russ Herriott. It is a shame, that the coffee has died. Its been nearly 8 months. It doesn't take but 90 days to transfer a business concern legally and keep it running while its being transferred. So my take on it: There is NO coffee and there won't be any. This man is playing games with the fans of Phil Harris, for his own personal gain.

I also attended the Commercial Fisherman's Festival, and heard many say, that they were to have the coffee there. HOWEVER, it was NOWHERE to be seen.

If you can't deliver, don't promise.

Is this how Phil's affairs will continue to be handled? If so, I worry for the future of Phil's sons, if this man is in control of their dealings.

Edit to add: the above post is strictly my own personal opinion based upon what I was told/experienced what in the greater Seattle area, and in Astoria Oregon. I hope they get their act together. That coffee was Phil's pride and joy.

They posted that they were back in business as of July 7th, 2010, but that just seems to be empty promises. I really don't understand what the issues are that have caused the delays. The business was up and running, and could continue running while the estate was in probate. I realize the person running things was terminated but surely someone else could provide this service, I would imagine the coffee supplier could have even given them some advice on how to handle the business. So here we are months later and the business remains in a shambles and no profits.
I think most coffee drinking fans could have supported a long delay while the transition took place but to get promised a resumption of services in July and now its late September and the business remains inactive with no communication as to when orders will be filled and a normalcy of business would resume is just unacceptable.
I realize the Harris' have a lot on their plate but if you are going to terminate the relationship with your coffee person at least have a plan in place to continue the business.

isnt it just sad... the coffee was great too and a shame that the stores pulled out, I did manage to get some from QFC when i was in seattle but that was back in May before a lot the storms started... time will tell i guess

Ok - haven't been here in a long while and looks like I haven't missed anything. The posts I see are all at least a month old, and the homepage hasn't been changed in weeks. Is this site still up and running? What is going on with the coffee? Has anyone gotten shipments? Or when is the coffee company expected to kick in again? I hope soon. Hope for the best for Josh and Jake at the very least.

i found this on wikipedia about the coffee. Captain's Reserve is a gourmet coffee company set up by the late Deadliest Catch Captain Phil Harris. His sons Joshua and Jake are working to promote and expand family business. In the last few months I have watched Captain's Reserve Coffee be marked down for sell out in the QFC Stores. I love the coffee and bought a lot of it @ $5.99 each. For a short while there was an empty spot on the shelves . Now other product has taken its place.

It was advertised that coffee would be for sale at the Corn Maze and the Commercial Fisheren's Festival. Coffee loving Fans looked forward to getting some for the boys to autograph. Not a bag to be purchased.

It looks as though Russ handles the coffee company just like like this site. Sporadic interest, rare updates, hollow promises, and a request to "bear with him". Looks, too, like "gone to work" got smart and went to work (elsewhere). No doubt in my mind he wasn't getting paid.

It would be wonderful to see Jake and Josh with a thriving coffee company. They had one not too long ago. It offered an amazing product that was chosen by Captain Phil. When he passed away a mismanager was hired and it's been all downhill from there. That saddens me greatly.
